Enable Email Sending on WordPress

Sierra.host does not allow email exchanges to happen on its servers. We have chosen to do this to keep sites fast and secure. There are many great email providers such as Google, Rackspace, ZOHO and so on. However, many WordPress sites need email capability for sending. Whether it’s password reset emails or email forms, sending email is important for your website.

This type of email sending is called “Transactional Email.”

To send a transactional email you’ll first need to select a transactional email provider, we recommend one of the following:

Spark Post (by far our favorite!)

Sign Up | Installation Guide | Spark Post WordPress Plugin Link

Spark Post is what we use for all of Sierra.host’s emails. We love it! We never have to worry about our emails being delivered!

MailGun (our Second favorite)

Sign Up | Installation Guide | MailGun WordPress Plugin Link

MailGun is a great option! It’s easy to use too! Like SparkPost it’s reliable and fast!

Gmail (not our favorite, but it works)

Gmail SMTP WordPress Plugin Link

Each of the above providers is free up to 10,000 emails per month! If you need help configuring your WordPress site for sending email, just give us a shout! First thing we are going to ask is what email provider you’re planning to use and then access to your account with them via Username and Password. So if you send those along first, we’ll be on our way quickly!
